Based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Solegear makes plastics from plants, as alternatives to oil-based plastics. Our business is focused on engineering, producing and distributing high-performance bioplastics. Our materials offer customized physical and mechanical properties for use in durable product applications. Solegear materials are suited for the Consumer Goods, Medical Devices, Electronics and Automotive industries. We offer two distinct, customizable products:

Solegear has worked with the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the University of British Columbia since 2007. UBC has provided Solegear with testing and polymer characterization capabilities.


Solegear has received support from the National Research Council Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Since 2007, the financial assistance and technical advice provided by NRC-IRAP has helped accelerate the Company’s research and development efforts.

NRC-IRAP is the Government of Canada’s premiere innovation and technology assistance program, supporting small and medium-size enterprises across Canada.
