TOBY REID, Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Inspired by the notion that high performance engineering and environmental responsibility need not be mutually exclusive in the world of specialty materials, Toby founded Solegear in 2006. He leads the Company’s overall development and commercialization efforts.

Toby brings a strong background in finance, sales & marketing, sustainability and technology commercialization to Solegear. Prior to founding Solegear, Toby was an Investment Associate in Toronto, ON, at RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Canada’s largest investment dealer. He was also previously Corporate Communications Manager at Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc., a publicly traded cleantech startup, and E-Commerce Merchandiser for Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canada’s largest outdoor retailer.

Born and raised in Toronto, Toby holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance & Marketing from Dalhousie University and is fluent in French.

BRIAN GUSKO, Chief Financial Officer

In his role as CFO, Brian is responsible for managing Solegear’s financial operations. Brian’s experience in financial planning and public markets complements Solegear’s ambition of smart growth and operational expansion.

Prior to his position at Solegear, Brian was the CFO of UC Resources Ltd. and a Director at Grenville Gold Corp., both Toronto Stock Exchange traded mining and metals companies. From 1995 to 2010, Brian was the Capital Markets Advisor for Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc., a cleantech company also traded on the TSX. Brian has worked in technology companies in Japan, South Africa, and Holland, and was a Market Analyst for the US Department of Commerce at an embassy posting, providing advice for American telecommunications and technology firms seeking to enter the Canadian market.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Carleton University, and an MBA from the University of Calgary and is a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

TROY CRESSMAN, Business Development Manager

Combining technical knowledge with business development skills, Troy brings to Solegear a successful sales background of marketing high-value organic materials and civil infrastructure construction materials to large industrial companies in North America. Troy leads Solegear’s product sales efforts as the Company’s Business Development Manager.

Prior to joining Solegear, Troy worked with Armtec and Sylivs/MetroGrow throughout the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Troy is a volunteer with the Western Society for Children and is expecting his first child at the end of 2011.

Troy graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Integrated Engineering, and holds a Professional Engineer designation.

BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD

Paul Antoniadis
Paul is the former CEO of BestBuy Europe. Paul’s business development and supply chain expertise provides Solegear with sales structure, production oversight and reporting tools to manage the Company’s growth. Paul is Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Stephanie Zahn
Stephanie is the former Senior Director of International Marketing at BestBuy. As a senior marketer with considerable multinational experience, Stephanie’s marketing expertise is highly valued on the Advisory Board.

John Davies
John is a lawyer and the former Managing Director of IP Europe. With over a decade of experience commercializing technologies from universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, John brings his international expertise in IP management and commercialization to Solegear as a member of the Advisory Board.

Geordie Henderson
Geordie is the former co-founder of Metalogix Software, and a current Director of APIs & Integration at HootSuite. Geordie has hands-on expertise in growing successful ventures, having exited from Metalogix in 2009, and brings his entrepreneurial vision to the Advisory Board.

SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD

Dr. Jose Cid
With a PhD in Engineering, and having worked for companies such as Petrobras, Dr. Cid brings his experience in biocomposites synthesis and modification, as well as polymer analysis and characterization to Solegear’s R&D efforts. Dr. Cid has over 25 years’ experience in the chemicals industry.

Christine Taggart
As the National Research Council of Canada’s IRAP Technology Representative to Solegear, Christine has provided technical and technology rollout advice to the company since 2007. She is a trained Chemist with an MSc over 20 years’ experience in the Advanced Materials industry.

Kambiz Taheri
Mr. Taheri brings an extensive track record of over 25 years’ experience in polymer synthesis and characterization to Solegear’s R&D efforts. An accomplished entrepreneur in his own right with an MSc in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Taheri has been involved with Solegear since 2009.
