Press Release – June 23, 2010: Introducing Traverse® Biocomposites – Natural Fibre Compound

Solegear Bioplastics Launches Traverse® Biocomposite – A Natural Fibre Compound for Big Brand Manufacturers

Vancouver, BC: Wednesday 23rd June 2010.

Solegear Bioplastics – a Vancouver, BC, based natural plastic clean technology provider – today launches a new transitional, biocomposite product line with a natural content of between 15%-60%. Traverse® Biocomposites enable brand manufacturers to produce injection moulded products such as toys, automotive parts and consumer goods, with the durability and strength of oil-based alternatives.

Traverse® is made using natural fibres – wood, hemp, bamboo and rice husk – and recycled or prime polypropylene, and other traditional thermoplastics, to create a high tensile, durable and sustainable injection mouldable solution.

“Traverse® is a pragmatic step towards totally biodegradable plastic products,” explained Edward Trueman, Solegear’s CEO. “Some of Solegear’s target customer base are looking to transition to 100% natural, high performance Polysole®. Traverse® provides that transition while also allowing the company’s brand to market its investment in sustainable and recyclable solutions.”

On June 2nd 2010, Solegear announced the commercialization of Polysole®, its 100% natural, 100% biodegradable, engineered plastic. This unique product line offers the opportunity for “big brands” to provide their consumers with the sustainable products they demand.
